The acting in this film is so impressive, and the script so clever and full of life, that it would probably have been a great film even with no music at all. But John Barry added one of his Oscar-winning scores to make it even better. The opening titles do a great job of grabbing your attention, but it is this early scene that stands out as one of Barry's most beautiful compositions.
Starring the peerless Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn, who are a joy to watch in the two principal roles, plus early performances by Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton. Directed by Anthony Harvey from a screenplay by James Goldman, adapted from his play. Music by John Barry, at the height of his lengthy career.
