It's a repeat of yesterday's rescue video: a chunky and seemingly healthy seal pup needs to be rescued from a thin loop of fishing line. On closer inspection, the rescuers can see that the fishing line had cut deep into the seal's flesh, causing an open and painful wound. We know how his life would have played from here on without our intervention: starvation, infection, suffocation, death. There is not one single scenario where the seal would have been able to free himself. A fishing line is designed to withstand immense pressure, a seal's slow growth would not have even stretched it. Instead, the fishing line would have fulfilled its purpose: kill a marine animal.
