The Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) chicks are very cute. They like some sugar water syrup with a little apple juice added.
I am beginning to get better at bird identification, though I am no ornithologist. Also, having a good telescopic lens on my camera helps us to see the birds in detail up close.
The parent Red Wattlebirds certainly do appear to have their hands/beaks full at the moment. I hope they will come back again, often, to feed on the nectar producing flowers and trees I have grown specially for them in my garden. Indeed, I have just bought a whole box full of new native tree seedlings to plant out. That should make ALL the birds around these parts extremely happy in the years to come.
