A family camping trip can be a great way to make memories that last forever.
The Cunningham family of Robbinsdale knows first-hand the benefits of spending a weekend together in the great outdoors.
"The kids bond really well when we're camping, compared to when we're at home, they fight a lot more when we're at home," said Kelly Cunningham.
Each weekend the Cunninghams, a family of seven, including five children ranging in age from 1 to 13, pack up their camper and hit the road.
"You're all together here and we can spend real quality time together here," said Ryan Cunningham. "You don't have work, you don't have a broken dishwasher, you don't have mowing , you don't have dishes, you don't have all those distractions, you get to spend more time with the kids and doing, family stuff."
The Cunninghams have started a website called Beyond the Tent to chronicle their adventures. For this modern family it's a way to digitally record their memories, while offering helpful tips and information to other families.
In addition to a blog, the website has pictures and videos of their time together in the wilderness, and they also review different camping products and gear. They also have how-to's and helpful tips on their website.
"It's a photo album mixed with video mixed with our thoughts about the trip we took," Ryan said.
The site has been getting a lot of traffic, which the Cunninghams are happy to see. But they are more happy about the memories they're making together.
"The reason we did this is because we wanted to go camping more, we wanted to camp in a camper, and get out with the family and have a blast doing it," said Ryan Cunningham.
And having a blast is exactly what they seem to be doing.
"I hope when they get older they'll remember this and take their families camping," says Kelly Cunningham.
