In 1996, China Was Taught a Lesson By The US Navy Aircraft Carriers.
On March 8, 1996, China fired DF-15 missiles directly over Taiwan; two even fell close to Taipei. That same day, carrier battle group 5 was going to Japan from the Philippines and was deployed on the east coast of Taiwan as a response to this act. But China didn't stop, and it announced more missile exercises near Taiwan. However, on March 11, the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz was in the Persian Gulf, and it was ordered to quickly head to Taiwan. And when China declared an amphibious assault, Carrier Strike Group 7 sailed through the Taiwan Strait to warn China.
