Ukraine's capital is taking steps to protect its residents in case of a Russian invasion.
Kyiv authorities say they have designated around 5,000 bomb shelters for its 5 million population, most of which have other uses, including 47 deep metro stations, subterranean parking garages, bars, and even a strip club.
There are also cold-war style shelters, like the one beneath the main train station with a capacity for 2,000 civilians for the short-term and a fortified Soviet-era section for workers to keep the transit system operating during a crisis.
Deputy Head of the city's council, Andriy Krishchenko, said that residents should prepare and familiarize themselves with instructions in case of emergency.
Schools in Kyiv are also organising evacuation drills for their students.
English teacher Daria Tilgen, explained how they were briefing pupils on what to do in the event of an invasion.
"We are trying to show the children that this situation may happen and in order not to be in panic we are telling them and training them what to do in such kind of situations," she said.
Western fears that a Russian invasion of Ukraine is imminent have eased but not disappeared.
Diplomatic efforts to avert war intensified this week after Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia was willing to discuss security issues with NATO, and Russia said it was withdrawing some of its troops gathered near Ukraine's borders.
The United States and its allies have welcomed the overtures, but say they have seen little evidence of a Russian military de-escalation.
