You don't have to spend a single rupiah to have fun in Tuktuk Samosir Island! There are plenty of things to do to entertain the whole family, and hiking in Tuktuk is one of our favourite activities.
Just a short walk from the village of Tuktuk Siadong lies a series of walking trails leading to various locations. Entry is free, and you can wander past rice paddies, corn fields, through community gardens, and off the beaten path to experience the serenity of Samosir Island.
Make your way to Tomok to browse the souvenir markets, head to Ambarita to see Huta Siallagan and the Stone Chairs, take a picnic up to the top of Bukit Beta to enjoy the views, or if you're feeling really adventurous, you can choose to take Hiking in Tuktuk to the next level by heading up the nearby mountain to see the waterfall and forested areas.
We've been visiting Tuktuk Samosir Island for the last decade, but this is the first time we've ever been hiking in Tuktuk!
Come with us as this week as we explore the various trails near Bukit Beta, meet some of the locals, and enjoy the gorgeous views from the ground and via drone.
