Cables exercises provide constant tension on the muscles, making them an effective way to build strength. The Low Cable Crossover is a great chest isolation exercise which uses cables, making it a great exercise to include in your training when you want to build up strength and size in your chest.
Here, our Personal Trainer demonstrates how to do a low cable crossover. You will need access to a cable crossover/ cable pulley machine to do this exercise.
1. Set the pulleys on each side to the lowest level, attach a single handle to each pulley, and set your weight
2. Stand in the middle of both pulleys holding a handle in each hand and then step one foot forward and slightly bend your knees to put the cables under tension
3. Your arms should be slightly behind your body and extended outwards with palms facing forward. This is your starting position
3. Bring your arms upwards and towards the centre of your body, keeping a slight bend in your elbows. Your hands should come together in front of your chest with your palms facing the ceiling
4. Pause before reversing the movement back to starting position
5. Repeat
