We were asked to remove the glazing and mullions to all floors to two façade sections on the Lambeth Hill elevations of the building and then replace the façade mullions and glazing towards the end of ISG’s programme of works.
The purpose of this was to allow access for materials and equipment during the refurbishment programme. On the face of it a relatively simple process. However, there was a distinct lack of Operation & Maintenance manual (no drawings, no details of original manufacturer, no details of the sequence of removal) so it was a bit of a journey of discovery.
We were presented with a challenge and we rose to it.
We researched, we found solutions and solved the issues with a collaborative (Simon Newby and his team appreciated this approach) and professional approach to ensure a successful conclusion. There were issues beyond the technical aspects of the de-installation and re-installation with weather (we cannot lift large glazing in mid to heavy winds or persistent rain and this all took place in winter condition between October and February), health & safety, structural integrity, road closures and other trades but as a team we overcame them and brought our work to a close with a happy customer and a sense of satisfaction.
