Did you know that science has now confirmed that red meat causes diabetes?
Let’s try to dispute this.
First, red meat consumption has been in decline since the 1970s, about a 30% reduction, while diabetes rates have gone up from anywhere between one and five percent all the way to 11.6%
That's like saying smoking rates have gone down but lung cancer rates have increased - doesn’t make sense
On to the study - They included sandwiches and lasagna as red meat, which can contain red meat but include numerous other ingredients like refined carbs and potentially seed oils depending on the bread.
The study also claimed that women consume more red meat than men - bizarrely incorrect.
They also only used observational studies to make their conclusion and mention two really interesting things.
They literally say that” in short-term randomized controlled trials (RCTs), definitive effects of red meat intake on biomarkers of glycemic control or inflammation have not been seen.” Which means that, based on more thorough and controlled research, They couldn’t determine if there was a link - interesting.
The second thing that they mentioned were that people who ate more red meat also exercised less and smoked more.
Lastly if you look at the entire population of the country, India, diabetes rates have been dramatically increasing. They also eat very little red meat due to religious and cultural reasons
We’re being gaslit again - that’s it.
