The National Lutheran Choir mourns the loss and celebrates the life of Susan Palo Cherwien. Susan's writing has given words to our song and her exquisite sensitivity to poetry and scripture have shaped the aesthetic of the National Lutheran Choir's beloved Christmas Festival for many years.
Susan's text for the 2008 commission "From Light to Light," with music by Aaron McDermid, has been much in our hearts as we grieve and yet ponder the greatness of God's promise and our immense gratitude for her life.
