This is a very popular Nepali salad prepared mainly on special occasions. But honestly, with an easy recipe like this, no need for any special occasion.
It is healthy, quick and absolutely delicious. Anytime you crave for something sour, spicy and healthy fix, you have to give this a try.
Also, this is a very easy side dish for times when you feel like “ there is just something missing”.
You can tweak this recipe in many ways to suit your liking.
- You can add cucumbers or cabbage to the salad.
- Adjust the spices to your liking. In my experience, the sesame seed powder and lemon are the main ingredients that bring this dish together.
- If you do not have mustard oil, you can use any other oil.
- let the fenugreek seeds turn aromatic and dark but not burnt. So put in the turmeric as soon as the fenugreek turns black.
- Once you put the turmeric in, you only have to heat it for few seconds otherwise turmeric will burn and you should not use it.
Ingredients:
1 small carrot
1 small Radish
1/2 tsp salt and turmeric for initial marination

1/2 - 1 whole lemon
Mustard oil
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
