Nuisance dust, in particular, silica dust, is a part of everyday handling, processing and testing of construction materials.

OHSA standards require lab environments to be “free from recognized health hazards that are causing or are likely to cause … serious physical harm …" and dust is one of the most common occupational health hazards in a materials testing laboratory.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) Engineering Control Program seeks to protect workers from nuisance dust by removing hazardous conditions or by placing a barrier between the worker and the hazard ([ Ссылка ] (NIOSH) Publication No. 2019-146).

The best method in dust reduction is to use engineering modifications to the dust source itself.
