Yashwant Vaishnav was a student of Indrakala Sangeet VishwaVidhyalaya. He started his initial learning at the age of 3 under his father Shri Rajendra Vaishnav, followed by training under Dr. Hemant Sachdeva and Pandit Mukund Bhale for over a decade. Presently, he is under tutelage of tabla player Pt Yogesh Samsi in Mumbai
