This time we are going to talk about “Naming of acids from anion names”.
Acids are known to be hydrogen paired compounds. The hydrogen bears a positive charge, so this is a cation.
There are two common types of acids, namely binary acids, and oxoacids.
Binary acids form when hydrogen is combined with nonmetallic elements most commonly in group 7A.
To name this kind of acid we have the general structure:
Hydro + nonmetal root name + ic for the first word and followed by acid for the second word.
