I wanted a light 4-season tent with stove jack, found the OneTigris Black Orca with inner mesh tent. Since the rest of the internet reviews all seem to really like this product, I bought it on their recommendations. I erect this, install my stove and cook dinner for a first impression. The material and design is high quality so this IS a good product, but confirmed my suspicion why I'm not a fan of A-frame structures, so off it goes to my resale pile. I'll list my pros and cons of this product in my description. If you like this style of shelter, you will be successful and happy with this tent.
In my opinion:
Pros:
- Lightweight and compact
- Strong, rip-stop material
- Snow falls right off, material appears highly water resistant and sheds moisture well
- Tent is really good at holding in heat from internal stove source
- All seams double-stitched and taped
- Aluminum center pole does not get hot
- Stove jack hole tent and hook/loop material is tough and very durable, not prone to ripping when pulled on, attaches jack/weather window cover solidly and fully to prevent leakage
- Base is sufficiently wide at 3.2 m / 10.5 ft
- Bottom of tent lifts off ground a narrow wedge to allow 360-degree additional airflow INTO the structure
- Peak of tent pole insert area reinforced with double-layer material for strength and includes a small gear loop
- Three gear hoops midway up, 1 each seam in middle wall panels, reinforced
- Stove jack window panel rolls/tucks up neatly out of the way of the stove pipe
- Each roof vent has a folding stabilizer bar that supports it to remain open when in use
- The floor guy line clips are easy to use and stay secure
- The mid wall guy lines are studded with very high visibility, very reflective and easily catch the eye in the dark
- Wall guy line loops are not anchored directly into the seam, but by a reinforced double-layer flap that dissipates the stress and tension of the rope across the panel instead of on the seam and avoids/prevents seam tears and rips
- Extra-large tie-back loops to fit door toggles, easy securing
- Hook and loop tab at bottom of door for simple stay with/without zippering.
- Ample width for full-length gear
- Pegs are high quality aluminum, strong, slim, compact design, light weight, high visibility with bright color
I did not test the inner mesh tent insert. It is made of the same durable rip-stop floor and screen walls material and zipper, appears strong and spacious.
Cons:
- Does not come with stove jack, must purchase separately at extra cost and shipping time
- One-way zipper, from bottom up, difficult to access/open door from inside, no actionable egress in emergency or extra ventilation/airflow from opening top of door panel with remainder door closed
- No guy line wall on the seam on back of the door panel which creates a slack portion of wall if not erected exactly symmetrically
- Questionable anchor peg loop at bottom of door zipper closure, purpose unclear when door both open or closed
- The floor guy lines are not reflective and not seen in the dark
- Wall guy line clips, OneTigris custom design, do not secure well, poor design that can loosen unexpectedly
