I originally ordered an International Nokia 808 PureView (Black) due to it's cheaper price even though I live in the United States. In addition to it not having a U.S. warranty, it was purchased on Amazon.com but NOT from Amazon and not even Fulfilled by Amazon wich means I had to deal would have to deal with a 3rd party vendor if I needed any assistance with returns or exchanges.
Unfortunately, the 808 that I received had a defective section of pixels on the camera sensor in the lower left corner and upon trying to get an exchange I was greeted with weeks of hassles. Finally, after about a month, and getting Amazon directly involved (seller fixed issue in 2 days after that), I was able to send the defective 808 back for a full refund.
Well, I still needed an 808 and having learned many lessons, I ordered a 808 with U.S. Warranty (White), so I can call Nokia directly and it was sold BY Amazon and Fulfilled by Amazon so that I would have the excellent customer service and support if any immediate issue with the order surfaces.
This left me with 2 808s over a 24 hour span of time and an opportunity to show views the subtle differences in the International and U.S. retail boxes and packaging.
The one with the U.S. warranty and directly from Amazon was almost exactly $100 more but the peace of mind outweighs the material cost several times over. I have purchased many devices directly from Amazon in the past and this was my first time venturing into 3rd party sellers with such a huge purchase. I will never do that again.
The situation was so bad that I decided NOT to buy the Red 808, which I have ALWAYS wanted and it was cheaper, just because it did not have a U.S. Warranty and wasn't sold nor fulfilled by Amazon. Lesson...learned.
Thank you for watching and reading this lengthy description.
