In May 2022, we finally got around to walking the Caminito del Rey walk, a cliff-side trek though the El Chorro gorge 100m above the Guadalahorce river. The original path was built in 1905 to allow workers to maintain the El Chorro electrohydrolic workstation. The work to restore and make it safe was completed in 2014. It’s named after King Alfonso XIII who walked along it in 1921 when he placed the last stone on the reservoir dam.
