We need new PSVR 2 games but this ain't it chief... I love VR horror games but Afterlife VR might be the worst PSVR 2 game so far and is easily one of the least scary VR games I've ever played... This new PSVR 2 game has just made the leap from PC VR over to Sony's shiny new VR headset and although it benefits from some controller haptics and incredible black levels thanks to the OLED lens on PSVR 2 the actual gameplay and experience leaves a huge amount to be desired. In this new PSVR 2 game you play as a rookie cop who's called to a mental institution to investigate a reported hostage situation, from the moment you arrive it's clear that something isn't right, patients roam the halls and a "spooky" ghost list child floats around aimlessly... I can definitely see what they were trying to achieve with Afterlife VR but sadly it falls flat on all accounts, the scares don't land, the atmosphere is non-existent and the VR gameplay is about as simplistic as it gets.

New VR horror games should definitely aim for the PSVR 2 as a platform, the OLED screen really does make dark sections look incredible and it elevates the experience a huge amount. This Afterlife VR PSVR 2 gameplay was captured natively from the PS5 and comprises the first 1hr of the games single player campaign.
