Lullaby - The word itself brings a smile to most people, I'm sure. Since a lullaby is sung to kids at bed-time, with the intention of speeding the sleeping process, they are soothing, and often simple and repetitive.
"Jogula" or "Laali Haadu" as it is called in Kannada, is common to all human cultures, ancient to modern.
"Yaakaluve ele ranga" is a lullaby that my mother used to sing for me and my younger brother and she says that that's the only lullaby that she knew. Hence, it has sort of seeped into my subconscious.. And I've always wanted to share it with the world.
Yes, it's in my mother tongue, Kannada. But because of it's soothing nature, a lullaby transcends all language barriers. And I'm sure, even if you don't know the language, you will still identify with the emotion behind it. You will still Feel it.
But I've noticed over the years, that lullabies are becoming a dying tradition, in the fast paced world that we are living today. And I somewhere wanted to do something in my capacity as an artiste, to revive it, and keep it alive. Hence, this song. Hope you enjoy it. Keep the love coming :-)
Lots of love to everyone,
Sowmya.

As Youtube has reviewed this as a video for kids now, Comments are disabled, and old comments have been deleted. But please know that I read every comment on this song, and it made me feel gratified that I revived this traditional lullaby. Even 70 year olds had commented that their mother sang it to them when they were little. It is an indescribable feeling to read such comments. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
