The Iron Horse Rambles are back!
Reading & Northern's stunning T-1 #2102 has been fully restored and is delighting passengers on her first revenue run since 1991. Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern has done a fabulous job restoring this T-1 class 4-8-4 "Northern."
Her first passenger run from Reading to Jim Thorpe sold out and saw her pulling a generator car and 18 passenger cars. There will be three more rambles this summer and three fall foliage runs in October. It is my intention to railfan all of them except the final October run which I'll be riding in one of the dome cars for.
This is a longer vlog-style video of my day, but you want to jump ahead to the footage of the train itself, here are the time stamps:
0:00 Hamburg
3:31 Tamaqua Station
5:25 KME Industrial Complex in Nesquehoning
8:22 Rural Nesquehoning
10:54 New Ringgold
13:05 Route 895 Molino
14:32 Freight train
18:13 Reading Outer Station - arrival
20:02 Reading Outer Station - up close look
22:13 Reading Outer Station - departure
23:45 Hamburg - nighttime return trip
This longer video follows my day's adventure with Nick from @NixCrossing. We had set out to catch 2102 run by six times but ended up catching her run by eight times!
We were joined at our second Nesquehoning location by our friends @rj78productions88 and Alan from @RevengeOfTheApocalypse. We also caught part of a freight train, and got a nice greeting from our friend Ian from @LRSX.
Chasing trains and building models is hard work! You can help me refuel and support my adventures by buying me a coffee!
