Using the BECCS-Technology (Bio energy with carbon capture and storage) Stockholm Exergi are planning to capture and permanently store biogenic CO2, resulting in carbon removal from the atmosphere and creation of so-called “negative emissions”. We want to build the world’s first large-scale BECCS-facility at our biopower plant in Värtan in Stockholm. Once the plant opens, it will capture 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, which is more than emissions from road traffic in Stockholm for an entire year.
