(31 Oct 2016) Charges of fraud against South African Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan were dropped on Monday.
An announcement by the country's National Prosecuting Authority was made in Pretoria on Monday, two days before Gordhan was due to appear in court.
The charges related to Gordhan signing off on the early retirement of one of his staff members.
Opposition parties, civil organisations and business CEOs planned to march to the court on November 2 to show their support for the finance minister.
