This was my brave my attempt to take all 4 kids to the Chabad of Boca's Lag Ba'Omer Carnival (I will link more info about that below).
Huge shout out to all of the Chabads of Boca Raton for putting this together.
Often times you have a great outing, only for it to be soured at the end by fighting, meltdowns or whatever. Knowing this would happen, I tried to stay positive, enjoy the moment and just let the chaos ensure at the very end.
Lag Ba'Omer
Lag BaOmer is a Jewish religious holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Counting of the Omer, a period in between the holidays of Passover and Shavuot
It's also a da on which the plague that killed Rabbi Akiva's 24,000 disciples came to an end, and for this reason the mourning period of Sefirat HaOmer concludes on Lag BaOmer in many communities.
According to modern kabbalistic tradition, this day is the Celebration of Simeon ben Yochai and/or the anniversary of his death. According to a late medieval tradition, Simeon ben Yochai is buried in Meron, and this association has spawned several well-known customs and practices on Lag BaOmer, including the lighting of bonfires and pilgrimages to Meron.
Practically, we celebrate with bonfires, bbqs, singing, dancing and rejoicing as much as possible.
