Ontario’s chief medical health officer Dr. David Williams said Monday he would ask local health units to report on any "areas of concern" as they enter Stage 3 of the province’s reopening plan, which would allow the province to respond to these concerns region-by-region rather than returning the whole province to Stage 2.
Williams provided an update on Ontario’s ongoing response to the novel coronavirus pandemic on Monday as well, alongside associate chief medical officer of health Dr. Barbara Yaffe.
Toronto, Windsor-Essex and Peel Region are the only regions which have not moved ahead with Stage 3 of reopening, as they continue to battle spikes in coronavirus cases.
Ontario reported 135 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 37,739.
Thirty-five cases are from Peel Region, 26 from Toronto and 21 are from Windsor-Essex.
Toronto, Windsor-Essex and Peel were also the last three regions to move on to Stage 2.
