In Macedonia, when someone wants to express his amazement of a musician's craft, the expression is: he is making his instrument talk.
It is so with Blagoja Deskoski and his violin.
Deskovski is a grand artist. In his artistic personality the valor of the ripe, thousand-year-old magic of the Macedonian spontaneous music-making and the modern music-making school are interwoven in perfect symbiosis.
When in 1987 thirty European musicologists, totally independed in their judgement, declared this folk violinist the winner of the competition "Pri Bratislava", they sanctioned a wide range of honours on his music-making: from one primeval musicality to the magic power to create while playing, improvising with the ease and spontaniety of a nightingale.
From the record's sleeve
