Y.M.C.A. is a song by the American disco group Village People. Released in 1978 as the only single from the album Cruisin’, the song reached the first position in the charts in early 1979. Village People is an American disco group named after Greenwich Village, a large entertainment district for gays in New York where the group members often visited. They also had further hits with their songs Go West, In The Navy, Macho Man… The dynamic arrangement was written by Frank Bernaerts.
