We would never have guessed that a rainy day in New York City would be better than a bright sunny day but it was so much better.
We didn't really have a choice of going to the city another day so we were forced to make the most of the day in the city, rain or shine. To be completely honest, we were a bit apprehensive about going into the city on a rainy day with the kids. There is nothing worse than being stuck in the city, walking, with whiny wet kiddos.
To our surprise, the rain didn't even phase the kids. If anything, they loved it . . . some of them maybe a little to much. Maybe we shouldn't have watched singing in the rain the night before going into the city on a rainy day. Our second youngest reenacted a seen from the movie, dancing with our umbrella through a water fountain!
At the end of the day, we all agreed that the rain brought a welcome calm to the city and that made it a really great experience for exploring the city with kids. I wouldn't say plan a trip to the city when its raining but I also wouldn't say don't go to the city because it's raining. You just might find, like we did, that the rain makes for a lovely day in the city.
