Jason, Rachael, Karlie and I went on a "Living the Dream" kayaking trip on the Etowah River on Memorial Day Weekend 2011. What is unique about this river, is getting the chance to paddle through the Etowah River Mine Tunnel which is about a 1/4 mile long. This tunnel was used to divert the river during the first gold rush that hit the United States. Given the fact the walls of the tunnel are approximately 7 ft wide, one tiny error could leave you swimming throughout the rest of the journey.
