12 Nov 1801 - 15 Aug 1875
Smoketown Cemetery - Goldsboro, PA
Rev. Jacob G. Kister was a notable figure to the town of Goldsboro. He was a preacher at the multi-denominational River Meeting House, and helped start the local saw mill alongside his son-in-law Isaac Frazer. He fathered several children with his wife Nancy; some passed away young, others continued to his family name and even served in the Union Army during the Civil War. His one son, John Kister, would marry Catharine, whose stone was cleaned in last week's upload. Rev. Kister would pass away at the age of 73. He is buried with his wife and some of his children.
This grave marker, along with many others, have long been overlooked and potentially forgotten about in the depressed remains of Smoketown Cemetery in Goldsboro, PA. Having stumbled across this cemetery one day, I was stricken with the need to do something. My mission is to help maintain this site to the best of my ability. This involves cleaning, resetting, and repairing stones. With the help of viewers and supporters like you, I can help bring this cemetery back to life. It is the resting place to many of the founders of Smoketown / Goldsboro along with many brave veterans of war, which will be featured in this series on this channel.
