In eukaryotes , there are at least three RNA polymerases

in the nucleus

(in addition to the RNA polymerase found in the organelles).



○ RNA Polymerase-1 transcribes

rRNAs ( 28S rRNA , 18S rRNA , 5.8S rRNA ).


○ RNA Polymerase-2 transcribes precursor of

mRNA, the hn RNA .


○ RNA Polymerase-3 is the responsible for the

transcription of tRNA , 5srRNA , sn RNAs.
