In which I'm reminded of how important strafing is in Redout. It almost feels like the game underplays just how important of a control it is lol. Obviously you can't get through without turning or pitching, but strafing is how you set yourself up ahead of turns and of course maneuver through light curves without losing speed. And it's definitely a feature that feels unique to AG racing (yes I know Sonic R had it), and distinguishes it from the rest of the racer genre. While you can't technically "drift" with AG vehicles you can absolutely mimic it through strafing, with even more control over your vehicle.
