It’s been on my list for a long time and this morning I set out to get to the top of it: Turtlehead Peak at Red Rock Canyon! I spent my time getting to the top because I always pack a few cameras so I can try to catch some wildlife up close. Sitting there begging that the lizard or chipmunk or whatever will just pose for me a little bit longer as I try to video them and then ALSO get a super close-up still of those little critters. The view was spectacular. Was it a hard hike? Ehhhh…. I don’t think it rates as “Hard”, I would say perhaps bordering between Moderate and Hard. Definitely a hike I would do again and again and take people with me to share the epic 360º views of Las Vegas, Mt. Potosi, Mt. Wilson, Griffith Peak, La Madre Mountain, and even Lake Mead!
FYI: If you are planning to do this hike, the trail splits off in the canyon area as you ascend to the saddle. If you can get a signal on your phone the AllTrails app is a good resource to keep you on track.
