This is another Space shuttle mission coverage video as seen on the TV in England.
This one starts with picture extracts from the Space Shuttle Log book by the late Tim Furniss detailing the mission highlights - you can freeze the picture to read it all.
Then we get a CEEFAX screen with music - who remembers the telextext service in the 80's?
We had BBC and ITV breakfast time TV shows start around this time and the launch and landing both occured early in the day for us. A US night launch and indeed a night time landing.
I intentionally do not over edit these videos as I like to leave in some news that adds a sense of history so you can place these missions alongside other memorable news items, although some will be more memorable for UK viewers of course. And nothing wrong with a bit of TopCat before Newsround either!
Astronaut Walter Cunningham from Apollo 7 features on the ITV coverage where he was in the studio with his wife covering the launch.
Ian Ridpath on the BBC coverage - dig his hair style! Frank Bough for the BBC. The beautiful Jan Leeming reading some BBC news. My favourite!
There was progressively less TV coverage here as the missions became more routine and it led to the launches and landings not even getting live coverage but at least this flight saw some priority featuring.
I am delighted with the messages some of my videos get and it seems that these VHS recordings are quite rare so I am pleased that I am able to offer this historical record perhaps different to the typical NASA coverage that many share with great quality work. I still have many hours of VHS recordings to work on but will look to step up the pace more now to get all this sharing done before I forget how to do it!

I'm @GBApollo on Twitter if you want space and other waffling on various matters.
Can you guess which shuttle flight I'll be covering next?
I do have other documentaries I've recorded and will share some of those soon too.
