It's been a long time coming, but I finally upgraded the drivetrain on my first frame build bike. I'd been using the original cobbled together used drivetrain on my rainy day commuter/gravel bike for the last 3 years. Originally, I had a Sram Rival 2 x 10 system on the bike, but after breaking the rear shifter, I scrounged up a 11 speed shifter onto a 10 speed free hub body. The gearing at that point was a 11-28 cassette minus the 13 tooth cog with a 34-50 double chainring set up.
In this video I swap to a 46 tooth Sram Xsync narrow wide chainring with a Sunrace 11-42 tooth 11 speed cassette. The cassette uses the Shimano Dynasys system of backspacing bigger cogs to fit an 11 speed cassette onto a 10 speed spaced free hub body
The result was a more usable range for the conditions the bike was being ridden, as well as eliminating chain slap and other issues I'd been having before the swap.
