Hey guys! Welcome back to another episode of my Third Eye Blind Guitar Cover Project series. This week we are taking a look at the song “London” from their Self-Titled Debut record released in 1997.
This song was written by lead vocalist Stephan Jenkins and original and former lead guitarist Kevin Cadogan. It’s jam packed with lots of cool guitar parts from Cadogan showcasing pinch harmonics, massive distortion, and of course…feedback.
I also discussed the tuning for “London” in this video, something many Third Eye Blind fans might be curious about since Cadogan always used unique guitar tunings for his riffs. This song is in an Open-D like tuning however, the Self-Titled tab book published by Hal Leonard notes that it is tuned to D A D F# A E rather than D A D F# A D, which is traditional Open-D tuning. I have discussed in this video the difference between these tunings and the difference they might have on the way this song is played. For the purpose of this video, I am playing this song in D A D F# A E tuning, like the tab book since Cadogan did have input with the writing process for it’s sheet music.
I hope you guys enjoy the video and be sure to like & subscribe if you have not already!
