In this video, you can see how to make a DOS program printing to all the installed Windows printers, including USB, Wi-Fi, Fax, PDF etc.
The DOS printing problem:
- Start the DOS EDIT program
- Print the document to the printer on LPT1:
- It doesn't work because EDIT cannot find an LPT1: printer (or port)
To solve the problem:
- Run the Printfil Setup program
- Read and accept the license
- The other options are ok in most cases
- Now you're asked to configure Printfil
- Default options usually are ok, but ensure LPT1: is selected if you want to print from DOS
That'all. Now:
- Print from DOS EDIT to the printer on LPT1: again
- Now Printfil captures the DOS print job and shows it on screen (if Preview is enabled)
- At this point, you can print it to any Windows printer, including USB, Wi-FI, PDF, fax etc.
