Italians gathered outside the US embassy in Rome on Tuesday (03/02) in a final protest against the imminent execution of double murderer Karla Faye Tucker in Texas. Public outcry continued with headlines in every major Italian newspaper asking for mercy for the condemned murderer.
Tucker, 38, was sentenced for the pickaxe murder of a couple in 1983. She will be the first woman to be executed in the United States in 14 years, and the first in Texas since 1864.
Tucker, a former prostitute who has become a devout Christian, has aroused widespread support in America and Europe.
