“No idea.” The seemed to be the answer every person from Princeton, New Jersey gave when asked where someone can find the nearest working payphone. It seems that the outdated service has been pushed aside thanks to the dawn of cell phones.
Sporadically spread throughout the city are payphone stations that either don't work, or simply don't have phones attached.
“I wouldn't waste your time looking for one because I have yet to see one that actually works,” one Princeton resident said. And that was the case for most payphone stations in the city; phones attached to cords, but nobody on the other end, and not even a dial tone.
