Hosted by Lawrence Bryant, the Mele O Hawaii show airs and streams most Fridays from 7AM to 10AM PST.
Broadcasting since 1972, KKUP 91.5 FM is a community sponsored radio station. The FM antenna is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains atop Mt. Loma Prieta (approximately 4 miles south of San Jose, California). Transmitting 24 hours a day with a potential audience of over 2 million people, coverage extends north to some areas of San Francisco, Oakland and Sonoma, south-east to Salinas and south to Monterey and Carmel.
KKUP's purpose is to provide music, views and cultural diversity not found on mainstream media. Local musicians, activists, poets and story-tellers both recorded and live in-studio are featured. If you can't hear it anywhere else, it's probably on KKUP.
KKUP is totally supported by listeners. By not accepting commercials, grants, or underwriting of any kind, the station belongs only to the people who donate. There are no commercial demands on programming. KKUP is staffed solely by unpaid volunteers and even the station website (KKUP.ORG) is paid for and maintained by donations from volunteers.
