Have had this marked on my map for a long time and finally got to see it this summer. Says this “is one of the Midwest's great Second Empire structures.” The architect who designed the mansion, William W. Boyington, is noted for the Chicago Water Tower, the Joliet State Penitentiary, and for completing the Illinois State Capitol. I love the Chicago connection, where all the best buildings of the time were designed. Beautiful old home.
