The cross-party manoeuvre to force a new law through the Commons in a day was completed by a late-night vote that passed by a majority of one. It now passes to the Lords and seems set to require the Prime Minister specifically to ask the EU to delay Britain's withdrawal beyond April 12 - currently the day we are due to leave without a deal. The attempt to wrestle control of Brexit by Remainers sparked fury among many Brexiteers, with one branding it a 'constitutional outrage'. John Bercow had earlier broken the first tie in decades to block plans to holding a third round of Brexit alternative votes on Monday, casting the deciding vote after a heated discussion in the Commons (pictured).
