Valley of the Dinosaurs and the Ultimate Slot are an awesome, off-track hike on top of Mt Airley in the Mugii Murum-ban State Conservation Area, they are a great and reasonably easy introduction to what this amazing area has to offer.

You need to watch the entire video if you want to see the Ultimate Slot, that starts around the 2:40 mark, you really don't want to be missing out on one of the best natural attractions here.

There are no maintained or well defined walking track here, yes, there are feint tracks, but, you will still need to have off-track navigation skills and be able to route find your way through the bush. Once in the Valley of the Dinosaurs, there is a track you can follow, but in reality, wander down the valley til it opens up and you will eventually come back out at a fire trail.

Getting to the Ultimate Slot is quite easy and is less than a 10 minute wander from a fire trail. There is a defined trail to this amazing location. A head torch will help with this, though, not really required.

The ultimate slot is 50mtrs deep and 80mtrs or so high, it is quite narrow at the entrance and then opens up once past the narrow entrance passage. It reminds me a bit of entering a pyramid through a hidden passageway.

We drove to the starting point, a 4WD will be required to do that, providing the gate at the bottom is actually open. We parked right where we filmed our introduction to the video and it was a steep uphill along Genowlan Fire trail to where we turned off, and, a steep final fire trail walk back from the Ultimate Slot back to the car, in reality, nothing too hard.
