The original Atari 800XL, released in 1983 was comparable, and in some ways better than the Commodore 64. Polish company Revive Machines is developing a modern remake of the 800XL using an FPGA. The RM 800XL is touted as compatible with all original 800XL software and peripherals, and sports modern ports like HDMI and USB. Gamers Bay will be watching this project and give you an update when more information becomes available.
