Whether you're a fine wine investor or not, diversification is key amongst any investment portfolio.

Over the course of the last two years, investors have moved to purchasing Italian wines as part of building their fine wine collections.

Whilst the main regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne have seen price corrections following a period of intense growth up to the market peak of October 2022, both core italian wine regions of Tuscany and Piedmont have seen much softer declines in their prices. It now (Apr 2024) stands the second best returning fine wine region at 30.1% over five years - only behind Champagne (45.3%).

As a result, we thought we'd send our team out to Tuscany to find out more about why these wines are gaining so much attention.

Our Commercial Director James Shakeshaft, and Head of Sport & Entertainment, Chris Robshaw were delighted to be invited along to @Ornellaia . Located in the Bolgheri region close to the sea Ornellaia, along with Masseto is owned by the Frescobaldi family, who have been making great Italian wines for over 700 years.

Our team met with Ornellaia's Sales & Marketing Director Vianney Gravereaux to discuss their approach to developing their wines and learn more about why the Bolgheri region is contributing to the growth in popularity of Tuscan wines.
