We either need to make room for more water in Camden or we need to ask the Town of Lincolnville to find somewhere else to send their rain (I’m kidding of course. Only one of those options is really viable).
This is what happened at the Montgomery Dam without even having to open up the dams on the lake (because every year the Town of Camden proactively draws down the lake in the Fall to make room for this type of thing). But there is a limit to the storage capacity of the lake. If homes and roads are flooding on Norton Pond and Megunticook Lake, the calls come rolling in to open the gates on Molyneaux and let water out, but we have to do that knowing that it will all come here, to downtown Camden. Designing the waterfall to be less of a bottleneck and for this torrent of water to be manageable is the only reasonable option.
