Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle decide that they've had enough of Babs' belligerent bullying buffoonery. Drawing from the tender, inspiring moments they witnessed in a film about a blind filly, they summon up some of the darkest magic they can get their hooves on to render Babs' permanently blind as a way to curb her pesky habit. As the Snooty Snark Evaders purge overwhelming darkness from their immortal souls, Applebloom finds her cousin standing around slack jaw outside the bomb shelter barn. She swings on over to let her know what happened.
Whew! After a pretty lengthy hiatus from animating pones, I've finally found enough break time between hours of wage slavery to put together this short test animation of my new filly rigs. To give myself a good pool of new resources to work from, I decided to redraw every last resource I had previously made to get everything as show accurate looking as possible. I picked this scene from the comical Friendship is Witchcraft parody series by Griffin ([ Ссылка ]) because it had a good range of angles to think on and experiment with. Also, I really liked how Sweetie Bot flipped out when introduced to water, so I wanted to get a chance to animate her glitching up.
Another reason I went ahead and did this project up was so that I could get some good quality practice with making relatively show accurate motion. I think my last project was pretty decent, but it was a bit too choppy for my tastes. After talking to a few very awesome artists, like Rose ([ Ссылка ]) and CreepyCurse ([ Ссылка ]), I was able to spot my flaws and weed them out for this latest attempt. I was also working in the wrong framerate, so that caused some pretty glaring issues. Now, I've got DHX's odd 25fps nailed down and simply need to continue practicing with moving my pones around at this speed. I think this animation experiment is a great improvement over my previous efforts.
I toned down Sweetie Bot's robo-appearance a little bit. While I really like the first iteration of her design that I came up with, I think a more subtle robotic appearance would be more in tune with the Friendship is Witchcraft series. I mean, after all, she's supposed to be a nearly perfect replica of a normal pony. I may have a far more ambitious project that I want to do with Sweetie Bot in the future here, so I think I'll look into modifying her appearance to be a bit more subtle. I wouldn't mind getting a chance to talk with Griffin himself to see if he'd be able to offer some extra design advice for our little soulless robot friend.
It's been an extremely rough past few months in my life, but being able to complete even this short animation tells me that I still have the spirit to march on. I can't wait to make another one, though I'm not sure I may get a chance to. I'll probably play that much by you guys' response. If you guys like the moving pones I do, I'll try to keep making more shorts in the future (and possibly longer work; I wouldn't mind doing a song or something even. That'd be fun!) I have a small collection of quick gags I'd like to animate as well as some more animation experiments. I've always wanted to try doing something with Pinkie in one of her costumes...
Anyways, thanks for watching! I'll keep making more drawings, but do let me know if you guys want more animations. I might try and keep ya'll more up to date on my DeviantArt or Tumblr if you're interested.
Keep it classy, ponefriends.
