Billy Raffoul performs "Dark Four Door" live at Indie88 in the Collective Arts Black Box.
In the small farming town of Leamington Ontario, Billy Raffoul grew up surrounded by art. His mother is an artist and writer, while his father Jody is a well known musician who has opened for the likes of Joe Cocker and Bon Jovi. His parents gave him his first guitar for his 10th birthday, and he taught himself to play. When Billy saw his father perform to a crowd of 4000 people at his school, he knew he wanted to pursue a career as a performer. He earned his first gig at a local truck stop playing to long-haul drivers. He was soon playing almost every night of the week in bars from Leamington to Detroit.
Lately, Raffoul has been spending time between Nashville and Los Angeles working on his debut album. “I’m putting everything into this record,” he says, “but I want to build my career on the live show. I want to be a true working musician… That’s always been the goal. Connect with people, one room at a time.”
