CRP and acute phase proteins - This video is on the acute phase proteins.
Following trauma, infection, inflammation, burns the body responds by initiating a series mechanism that lead to rapid decrease in the concentration of many proteins.
These proteins are termed as negative acute phase proteins.

Examples are – Albumin
Pre albumin
Transferrin

An increase in the concentration of several specific proteins occur some hours after the injury. These proteins are termed as acute phase proteins.

Examples are – C reactive Protein (CRP) ,
Ceruloplasmin
Alpha 1 antitrypsin
Alpha 1 acid glycoprotein
Fibrinogen
Haptoglobin

Normal value of CRP - Upto 06mg/L

If values are above 10mg/L it suggests chronic bacterial infection
