OSCARS
Unlike lots of other awards ceremonies since COVID, the 2021 Oscars took a bunch safety measures so they didn't have to go virtual. But the big night was much smaller than usual, only nominees, their guest and presenters were allowed to attend! The host was... no host... for the second year in a row. There were plenty of famous presenters though. Best animated feature went to: Soul. Best Actor went to: Anthony Hopkins. Best Actress went to: Frances McDormand. And the big one Best Picture went to: Nomadland.
It was one of the most diverse years yet! Almost half the nominees in the acting categories were performers of colour. And across the board more women were nominated than in any other year. With 2 women nominated for Best Director for first time ever, including the first woman of colour, Chloe Zhao- Nomadland Director. And she won!

DEEP TIME
How would you like to spend 40 days living inside a cold, completely dark cave? If you answered "well, I suppose it'd be alright, really", then you've probably got a bit in common with these 15 researchers in France. They've just gone through the experience as part of a project called Deep Time. They had no natural light, no technology, and no contact with the outside world. They measured time by how much they slept, but they didn't do a great job of it - many of them thought they still had at least another week to go!

JOSH FIGHT
On Saturday what seems like every Josh ever met in a park in Nebraska pool noodles in hand, ready to defend their name. Big Josh; Spider Josh; spinny-noodle-destroyer Josh. A year ago, a guy named Josh Swain added a whole bunch of other Josh Swain's to a group chat, challenging them to a battle in a year's time. And the winner keeps the name and the losers have to change it. When he posted it on social media it took off! But it turns out he was actually serious, or enough people thought he was. Hundreds of Joshes gathered at the event but there was only one other Josh Swain. So organiser Josh Swain went one-on-one with him, in a tense battle of Rock, Paper, Scissors. And after that, the main battle of all the other Joshes and some not Joshes got under way. The rules were simple, if you get hit by a pool noodle, you're out, and only one person could be crowned the King of Joshes. That person was... 5 year-old Josh Vinson Jr or, Little Josh!

RECORD-BREAKING CROWD
You know what they say two's company... 78,000's a crowd. That's how many fans packed the MCG to watch the ANZAC day match between Collingwood and Essendon. It broke the world record as the BIGGEST sporting event since the COVID-outbreak began. In a hard fought game, the Bombers brought it home by 24 points.

BARTY PARTY!
25. That's how old Ash Barty turned over the weekend and she got some pretty good presents. Well, they were less presents and more rewards for her performances at this tournament in Germany, she won both the singles and doubles events. And took home a bit of cash, and a Porsche for her troubles.

GATORS LOVE...GOLF?
One. That's how many alligators golfer, Cameron Champ had to avoid during the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. And 0. That's how little he seemed to care about the close proximity of the gator. Nice.
